Weight loss? Try these easy tips.

We know weight loss is tough. Many will try crazy, extreme, or unrealistic diets to shed pounds. Generally, the end result is the same. Initially, some weight will be lost because we can follow anything for a little while. After time, we go do back to our old way of doing things. The weight comes back and now it has brought a friend. By this, I mean now the weight is now higher than it was when you started the diet.

Does this sound familiar?

Small changes are shown to be more successful.  Big drastic changes are harder to stick with, especially when stress increases.

Some tips to try:

1. Eat smaller portions for meals and snacks. Eat the same foods, just smaller amounts.

2. Drink more plain water. Diet sodas are okay but plain water is best.

3. Eat dessert less often. When you do...Have a  very small piece. (You still get a taste)

5. Eat more slowly. That rumor about your body taking 20 minutes to realize you are full...It's true.

6. Take the stairs instead of the elevator when possible.

7. Walk or ride your bike to school or work.

8. Don't skip meals. This only lowers metabolism and causes ravenous eating. This will prevent weight loss.

9. Add fiber to your meals. By eating fruits and vegetables you increase the "bulk" of your diet while getting a vitamin punch. Try to get 5 a day.

10. Get enough sleep. When the body is running on low...weight loss is less likely to happen.

None of these tips are drastic.  Yes, they are small but they can really add up over time.
For example:  Lets say you replaced dessert with fruit twice per week. This saves 400 calories each time. In a little over a week that is one pound of weight lost. In a year it is 12 pounds!  Just think if we added a short walk.
